How to Manage your Weight and a Healthy Lifestyle During Pregnancy!

"A Baby is a Reason Not an Excuse!"

Being a first time mommy-to-be I was extremely nervous about gaining weight and my body changing. However I'm here to ease your mind that although your body will change and do things you never thought possible, you can and will get that body back if you watch what you eat and workout while you are pregnant! I've still got 7 weeks to go and I'm sure another 10 pounds, but that will only be a total weight gain of 30 pounds throughout my whole pregnancy and I've learned that, that is actually very hard to achieve due to your hormones causing you to crave certain foods and your lack of motivation to do any exercise!

In all honesty though {And not to be harsh} I'm sick of people complaining about their body but then never making a change. It's NEVER TOO LATE to achieve a healthier body and lifestyle! So if you're pregnant, don't let that be an excuse! And yes, I'm very aware that some pregnancies prevent women to pretty much do anything.. BUT you can still eat healthy for your baby and you! It's going to take dedication, motivation, will power and lot's of creativity depending on your situation. Trust me my pregnancy has not been beautiful, not been fun, not been anything remotely close to any of my friends who have had wonderful experiences and I'm terrified that my delivery will be just as bad, but the one thing my doctor and physical therapist keep telling me is to not give up on my healthy lifestyle because it WILL ALL BE WORTH IT!

3 Facts To Know:

1. You're not eating for 2! Eat what you normally would and manage your intake because you don't want to overeat!

2. It's okay to workout and keep your same routine! Don't over do it and if you've never worked out before, start out very slow!

3. Drink A LOT MORE water than you did before!!

In the beginning you are going to eat whatever possible because if you're anything like me, you'll be sicker than a dog and not concerned with anything other than providing some source of energy and nutrients to your baby. I lived on jello, yogurt and popsicles for the first 4 months. After I overcame my first trimester I was able to really focus on my diet, even though I was still extremely exhausted and unwilling to get out of bed. I had no motivation and no energy. I knew I wanted to get back to my healthy meal planning as quickly as possible because I just felt like plain crap and mentally I was struggling with everything going on and happening hormone and body wise. So I learned through research and my doctor what healthy things to eat and that it was okay to splurge here and there when it came to sweets, which I rarely did before hand. And now for the last few months I've been pretty strict with myself but making sure to eat what I need for my baby to grow! With that said, I've compiled a grocery list of healthy foods I ate during pregnancy and I've included a week long {5 days} meal plan just for you! I chose to do 5 days because I believe every momma needs her weekends to eat what she wants! Bonus, I've included different workout options on my Instagram Highlights that I also completed during pregnancy!
